  Passage 1

New Yorkers, albeit many of themgrudgingly, are gradually getting used to more pedaling passengers on thoseblazing blue Citi Bikes. But whatabout local bike shops? Is Citi Bike rolling up riders at their expense ? AtGotham Bikes in Tribeca, a manager who gave his name as “Ben W。” said the shophas seen an increase in its overall sales due to the bike-share program。

It is a new trend in recent years that interest in travelof youths has increasingly arisen. The growing number of youngertourists is due to the fast improvement of their income and thecuriosity to explore the external world. With their more and morejourneys , time is spent less in big cities or famous attractionsand more in remote areas. Some even choose to go backpacking.According to a recent survey, many young people would like toexperience different cultures, to enrich their knowledge and towiden their vision through travel。

“It’s getting more people on the road, more peoplelearning about the sport and getting involved,” he said。

  1. 完形填空每题都是四选一,选词填空第一题要十五选一,就算用到排除法,最后一题也要六选一,而且在十五个选项中还有五个根本不会用到,难度加大;

An employee at Danny’s Cycles in Gramercy said Citi Bikeis a good option for people to ease into biking in a city famed for its vehicularcongestion and aggressive drivers。

  2. 完形填空每题的四个选项都是统一的词性,只需要辨析词义、搭配就基本可以作答,而选词填空的十五个选项有多个词性,解题时需要同时判断词性和词义,难度加大;

The phenomenon of holiday economy shows that theconsumption concept of Chinese is experiencing huge changes.According to statistics, the demands of Chinese consumers aretransferring from basic necessities to relaxation, comfort andpersonal development. Meanwhile, Chines people’s views ofconsumption are becoming maturity during the vigorous developmentof holiday economy. Therefore, corresponding adjustment of thestructure of products should be made to adapt to socialdevelopment. On the other hand, services should be improved tosatisfy people’s demand for an improved quality of life。

“They can try out a bike without committing to buyingone,” James Ryan said. “It makes a more comfortable biking environment in the citybecause there are a lot more bikes, too。”

Business at Danny’s Cycles has increased as well sincethe advent of bike-share。

All over the world, the Internet develops the most rapidly inChina. In 2010, there are roughly 420 million people surfing theInternet in China and the numer is increasing rapidly. The growingpopularity of the Internet leads to great social changes. Chinesenetizens are usually different from those in foreign countries.Netizens in America, driven by their actual needs, consider theInternet  a tool to send e-mails, to buy or sellgoods, to do scientific research, to plan their trips or to make apayment. By contrast, forums, blogs or chat rooms are more widelyused in China in that Chines citizens generally surf the Interneton the purpose of social contact。

“A lot of people come in for bike gear, and we’ve sold alot of helmets,” he noted。

  1. 预览选项,了解词义并把选项分为四大类词性:名词n,动词v,形容词a,副词ad,在每个选项后作词性的简要标记;

Rentals are not a big part of the business at eitherGotham Bikes or Danny’s Cycles. But for Frank’s Bike Shop, a small businessthat has been at its current Lower East Side location on Grand St. since1976,the bike-share program has been bad news. Owner Frank Arroyo said that hisrental business has decreased by 90 percent since the Citi Bikes were rolledout last month。

  2. 精读全文开头,把握文章主题,并以三个空或一个段落为一个单位,利用前后文判断每空的词性;

Pandas, with special black and white fur, are mild animals. Theywere listed as endangered species due to their little amount. Thepanda has an unusual meaning to WWF because the picture of a pandahas always been the logo of the foundation since it established in1961. Being the rarest member in bear family, the panda live mostlyin the forest in southwestern China. At present, there are roughly1000 pandas. These animals, which feed on bamboo, are facing plentyof threats. As a result, it it more crucial than ever to ensure theexistence of pandas。

Arroyo’s main rental customers are European tourists, ademographic that has since been drawn away by Citi Bikes. Initially, a bike-sharestation was sited a few doors away from Frank’s Bike Shop on the corner ofGrand and Henry Sts. But a petition onmoveon.org to relocate the bike stationgathered more than 1,000 signatures. The Citi Bike dock was eventually removed— but only temporarily, according to the Citi Bike Twitter account, for utilityconstruction in the street。

“I was grateful, and it was quite an honor to see howmany people responded on my behalf,” Arroyo said of the petition effort. “It wasreally nice to see that people care. But they have flooded the place withthem,” he said of the Department of Transportation, which installs the bikeracks。

Removing one station does little since the area isoverloaded with Citi Bike stations, said Arroyo。

New Yorkers are gradually getting used to more pedalingpassengers on those blazing blue Citi Bikes. But what about localbike shops? Is Citi Bike rolling up riders at their expense? Anemployee at Danny’s Cycles in Gramercy said Citi Bike is a goodoption for people to ease into biking in a city famed for itsvehicular congestion and aggressive drivers. “They can try out abike without committing to buying one,” James Ryan said。

“If you put it in front of a hotel, customers are goingto walk of the hotel and use it,” he said。

He said he worried about inexperienced riders’ lack ofawareness of biking rules and backlash from non-cyclists. However,he said, it’s still too early to tell if his business has beenimpacted。

Consisting of equal parts tourists and locals, hiscustomers get a better rental deal at his shop because, despite charging only$10for a daily rental, the bike-share program requires cyclists to check theirbikes in at a bike station every half hour. His store, on the other hand, charges $10 for the first hour, $5 for the second, and $2.50 per hour afterthat。

  -en,如:widen,worsen

While it’s possible bike-share will cause a drop inbusiness in the long run, Crooks allowed that the idea, as a whole,is good for the city。

“Six hours with Waterfront Bicycle Shop will cost acustomer $25,” he said. “With Citi Bike, a six-hour rental will cost $126 [ifthe rider doesn’t re-dock his or her bike at a station every half hour]. Ourrentals always include a helmet, a basket and a lock。”

  -able,如:stable,affordable

But what about local bikeshops? Is Citi Bike rolling up riders at their expense?

Farrell’s early concerns were echoed by Andrew Crooks, owner of NYCVelo, at 64 Second Ave。

  -ous,如:unconscious,enormous

定位在第一段的第三行, GothamBikes的一个manager说道 “the shop has seen an increase in its overallsales due to the bike-share program。”

The actual Citi Bikes themselves have been criticized as“heavy,” “clunky,” even “ugly。” In comparison, Crooks said NYC Velo has bikesthat are “lighter, faster and tend to be more comfortable。” Farrell ofWaterfront also said his bikes are of “better quality” than the bike-sharetwo-wheelers。

因果转折类:but/however/unfortunately/since/because/the reason

While it’s possible bike-share will cause a drop inbusiness in the long run, Crooks allowed that the idea, as a whole, is good forthe city。

让步关系: although/though

  -ly,如:deliberately,completely,remarkably,

F店的店主说道since the CitiBikes were rolled out last month。

Passage one page6

  59题 A

Bike store owners put theirspin on new bike-share,题材为议论文。

Pre-reading

He saidhe worried about inexperienced riders’ lack of awareness of bikingrules and backlash from non-cyclists。

Pedalling

  通常来说,冠词(如a,an,the)、形容词、介词后面搭配名词,即“a/an/the/adj./prep.

Blazing

56.【B】 Whether local bike shopswill suffer.

At one's expense

  Education soon became a _____.

Due to 由于

As the trade winds lessen in _____, the ocean temperatures rise causing the Peru current flowing in from the east to warm up by as much as 5 degrees.

57.【C】 It saw its bike sales on therise。

Option

Husbands and children now do some of these jobs, a ____ that has changed the target market for many products. 第一种方法,用句子结构来判断,前面一句话,husbands and children now do some of these jobs,这是一个完整的句子,主语husbands and children,谓语动词do,宾语some of these jobs;后面的that引导的是一个同位语从句,它所修饰的中心词就是a后面需要填的词,而定语从句的中心词是名词,所以横线处应填一个名词。

  A. analyses

  58. 【B】 Its customers have been drawn away by Citi Banks。

Vehicular congestion

Echo 重复

  59. 【A】 Inexperienced riders might break biking rules。

Implement

  E. excess

Backlash 反击

He ____ from his teachers, came home in tears and thought about dropping out.

  60. 【D】 Approving。

Execute 执行

That’s why a growing number of hospitals now depend upon physicians who ___ in pain medicine.

  G. habitually

as a result of   由于

  H. necessarily

  1. What is the author's chief concern about the increasing use Bike in New York?

  I. products

The rainfall is increased across South America, ___ floods to Peru.

57.What happened to Gotham Bikes as a result of the bike-share program?

58.Why is the bike-share program bad news for Frank's Bike Shop?

In particular, when older patients ___ of pain, they were told it was a natural part of aging and they would have to learn to live with it.

  M. simple

  N. survey

59.Why did Andrew Crooks think that bike-share program would be difficult to execute?

  当出现“a/the/the most/more +___+名词”的结构时,横线处通常填形容词

Farrell's early concerns were echoed by Andrew Crooks, owner of NYC Velo, at 64 Second Ave. "It seemed like a great idea, but one that would be difficult to implement," Crooks said of Citi Bike. He said he worried about inexperienced riders' lack of awareness of biking rules and backlash from non-cyclists. However, he said, it's still too early to tell if his business has been impacted.

The 1982-83 EI Nino brought the most _____ weather in modern history.

A) There are not enough lanes to accommodate the bikes.

B) Inexperienced riders might break biking rules.

  39. K 本空所在分句“_____in November in a report called ‘Is it in us?’by an environmental group”作为插入语修饰主语the results,已知部分的意思可以理解为“11月,在由一个环保组织所做的名为‘是我们吗?’

C) Conflicts might arise among bike rental shops.

  40. J 本空所在分句 “_____from … to a…”

D) Traffic conditions might worsen in the downtown area.

Today, we lake pain _____.

In Arizona and Texas, bilingual students ____ outperform their peers in monolingual programs.

  1. What is the general attitude of the local bike shops towards Citi Bike?

While it's possible bike-share will cause a drop in business in the long run, Crooks allowed that the idea, as a whole, is good for the city.

Large education bureaucracies and unions came to dominate the landscape, confusing activity with achievement. Bureaucrats regularly rewrite curriculums, talk nonsense about theories of education, and require ever more administrators. The end result has been that, after all the spending, students have worse math and reading skills than both their foreign peers and earlier generations spending far less on education-as all the accumulating evidence now documents.
